Location: Norfolk, VA Employment Type: Full-Time Pay Rate: $21.85 per hour Position Summary The Family Support Specialist works directly with families in their homes and communities, providing guidance, support, education, and access to resources that promote stability, self-sufficiency, and overall well-being. This role focuses on empowering families to achieve goals outlined in service plans while building on their strengths and capabilities. Essential Responsibilities Provide in-home support, counseling, and guidance to families using a strengths-based approach. Assist families in achieving goals identified in service plans. Connect clients with community resources, social services, healthcare providers, educational programs, and other support systems. Advocate for clients by communicating with case managers, schools, courts, medical professionals, landlords, and other service providers. Educate families on parenting skills, behavior management, household organization, budgeting, and healthy family dynamics. Participate in recreational and community-based activities that promote education, socialization, and family engagement. Assess family needs and assist with accessing resources that improve family functioning and stability. Maintain accurate case documentation and reports. Provide transportation to clients when required. Support caseworkers and assist with administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications Associate degree, diploma, certification, or equivalent vocational/technical training preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships with diverse populations. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Compassionate, patient, and solution-oriented mindset. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. No prior experience required. Additional Requirements Valid Driver's License may be required depending on assignment.
