On-Site Service Engineer ? Data Center / Server Hardware Location: Chester, VA Pay Rate: $41.61/hour Schedule: Monday?Friday, 8:00 AM?5:00 PM On-Call: Required; occasional support for alternate shifts and extended hours Position Summary Unisys is seeking an experienced On-Site Service Engineer to provide hands-on technical support for enterprise data center servers and hardware. This is a server hardware break/fix role focused on diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and maintaining server infrastructure. AI experience is not required. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair enterprise server hardware and equipment. Install, remove, replace, and configure server components, including: Memory/DIMMs and CPUs Power supplies and cooling components Hard drives/SSDs RAID/HBA and NIC components PCIe components and GPUs Motherboards/system boards Perform rack-and-stack, server installation, cabling, and hardware configuration. Troubleshoot BIOS, firmware, operating system, and hardware issues. Perform BIOS/firmware updates using tools such as Dell iDRAC or comparable platforms. Perform reactive break/fix and preventive maintenance. Document troubleshooting activities, repairs, component replacements, and resolutions. Work directly with customers and internal technical teams to resolve service issues. Escalate complex technical problems when necessary. Participate in an on-call rotation. Attend a weekly touchpoint call with the Unisys team once engaged. Required Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on enterprise server, data center hardware, or infrastructure experience. Direct experience physically installing, diagnosing, repairing, and replacing server components. Experience troubleshooting memory, CPUs, power supplies, storage, RAID/HBA, NICs, fans/cooling, PCIe components, or GPUs. Experience working with rack-mounted enterprise servers. Strong understanding of server architecture and hardware troubleshooting. Experience with hardware diagnostics, BIOS/firmware, and server management tools. Familiarity with Linux or similar operating systems. Strong independent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working independently in a customer-facing environment. Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to work flexible schedules and participate in on-call support. Preferred Qualifications Dell PowerEdge experience. Dell or other enterprise hardware certifications. Experience with Dell iDRAC, HPE iLO, or comparable tools. GPU/AI server infrastructure experience. Data center operations, rack-and-stack, structured cabling, or server deployment experience. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field. | |
