We are seeking a Registered Nurse / Nurse Case Manager to support employee health, wellness, and absence management programs within an Employee Wellness Center. This position will serve as a key resource for employees, supervisors, Human Resources, union representatives, payroll, healthcare professionals, and external partners in coordinating medical absences and employee leave programs. The Specialist will be responsible for monitoring and processing employee sick absences, FMLA, maternity leave, short-term and long-term disability, catastrophic leave, and return-to-work activities. The role will also conduct medical record/chart reviews, prepare case documentation, evaluate the potential need for fitness-for-duty examinations, and provide clinical support to the Employee Wellness Center. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to a Senior Specialist. Key Responsibilities Employee Leave & Absence Management ? Monitor, review, and process employee sick absences and related leave cases. ? Administer and coordinate Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) cases for eligible employees. ? Process FMLA requests related to an employee's own medical condition as well as qualifying care for family members. ? Coordinate maternity leave cases and associated documentation. ? Support short-term disability, long-term disability, catastrophic leave, and other medical absence cases. ? Coordinate sick-pay approvals and related employee absence documentation. ? Support the employee's transition back to work following a medical absence. ? Process approved Department of Labor/FMLA-related absences and documentation. Case Management & Medical Review ? Conduct medical record and chart reviews to evaluate employee health-related absence cases. ? Prepare clear and accurate case narratives based on medical documentation and available information. ? Review employee medical information in conjunction with the requirements of the employee's position. ? Evaluate whether a fitness-for-duty examination may be appropriate based on medical records and the employee's job responsibilities. ? Coordinate with employees and outside healthcare professionals as necessary to obtain and review relevant medical information. ? Maintain appropriate documentation related to employee health and absence cases. Communication & Coordination ? Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding medical leave, sick absence, FMLA, disability, and return-to-work matters. ? Communicate with supervisors and Human Resources to coordinate employee absences and return-to- work activities. ? Work with union representatives regarding union employee sick absences, FMLA, maternity leave, disability, sick pay, and return-to-work matters. ? Communicate with outside healthcare professionals regarding employee medical cases as appropriate. ? Coordinate with Client regarding management employee short-term disability absences, catastrophic leave cases, and long-term disability matters. ? Communicate with Payroll regarding sick-pay approvals and payroll overrides for union and management employees. ? Facilitate communication among employees, management, HR, healthcare providers, payroll, unions, and external partners to ensure cases are appropriately coordinated. Employee Wellness Center Support ? Assist with day-to-day operations of the Employee Wellness Center as needed. ? Respond to medical emergencies occurring at the company's headquarters. ? Provide support for mobile medical van operations as needed. ? Assist with maintaining and monitoring medical supply inventory. ? Support other wellness center activities and assignments as required. Emergency Response & Field Support ? Participate in the company's emergency response program through a designated System Emergency Assignment. ? Be available to respond to company emergencies outside of normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, when required. ? Travel within the company's service territory as needed to support business and employee wellness operations. ? Work at company locations as required. Required Qualifications Education & Experience Candidates must meet one of the following: ? Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) and at least 4 years of relevant experience, OR ? Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Required Skills & Experience ? Active understanding of FMLA regulations and employee leave requirements. ? Registered Nurse experience applicable to employee health, case management, clinical care, or related healthcare functions. ? Ability to review medical information and determine appropriate next steps for employee absence and return-to-work cases. ? Strong written and verbal communication skills. ? Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, HR professionals, union representatives, healthcare providers, payroll, and external vendors. ? Strong organizational and case-management skills with the ability to manage multiple employee cases simultaneously. ? Proficiency with standard computer applications, including internet, spreadsheet, and word-processing software. Preferred Qualifications ? 2+ years of clinical or nurse case management experience. ? Experience working with a union employee population. ? Experience in occupational health, employee health, disability management, workers' compensation, or a similar environment. ? Experience coordinating short-term and long-term disability cases. ? Experience with return-to-work and fitness-for-duty processes. ? Experience working within a corporate Employee Wellness or occupational health center. Licenses & Certifications Required: ? Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York. ? Valid driver's license. Preferred: ? Certification in Occupational Health Nursing, OR ? Certification in Nursing Case Management. Physical & Work Environment Requirements ? Ability to sit or stand while using a keyboard, mouse, and computer for extended periods. ? Ability to stand and operate office equipment as required. ? Ability and willingness to travel within the company's service territory. | |
