Position Summary We are seeking a mechanically skilled Pipe Fabrication / Machine Operator to support pipe fabrication and material handling operations. This position involves operating machinery, measuring and cutting pipe, assembling orders, performing quality checks, and safely moving pipe throughout the shop and yard. Candidates with backgrounds in automotive repair, machinery maintenance, diesel mechanics, automotive manufacturing, or farm equipment are encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications 6?8 months of recent mechanical experience. 6?8 months of recent experience operating machinery, preferably including: Band saws Automatic welding machines Pipe threaders Roll groove machines Plasma cutting equipment Pneumatic banders Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure. Experience using gauges for quality checks. Strong basic math skills for calculating product quantities and measurements. Ability to safely handle and sort pipe ranging from ½" to 10". Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer skills and ability to work with automated machinery. Knowledge of safe work practices in a pipe yard. Key Responsibilities Move loose or bundled pipe throughout the shop and yard. Assemble pipe orders, including individual sticks and bundled orders. Maintain organized work areas and supplies. Follow safety procedures when fabricating, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping pipe. Operate powered industrial equipment in accordance with OSHA guidelines and company procedures. Set up, operate, and maintain pipe fabrication machinery. Measure, record, and accurately calculate random pipe lengths. Measure and cut pipe using band saws or torches. Thread and bevel pipe using Landis machines. Perform quality checks using gauges and other measuring equipment. Inspect and maintain forklift equipment. Ensure materials are properly organized and prepared for shipment. Perform other fabrication and material-handling duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications 6?8 months of fire sprinkler pipe fabrication experience. Experience with pipe cutting, threading, beveling, grooving, or welding. Previous pipe yard or industrial manufacturing experience. Training may be provided on specific pipe fabrication equipment for candidates with a strong mechanical background.
