Position Summary The Hose Coiling & Pressure Test Operator is responsible for coiling, inspecting, cutting, labeling, and pressure testing industrial hose according to manufacturing and quality specifications. This position requires strong attention to detail, basic computer and math skills, and the ability to safely operate production equipment in a manufacturing environment. Production experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided. Essential Responsibilities Hose Coiling Review hose for quality and conformance while coiling it onto reels. Verify part numbers, hose sizes, and job numbers against manufacturing specifications. Review dimensions, tag colors, and take-up reel diameter. Inspect hose for defects, including: Broken or missing wires Kinks Other product flaws or nonconformities Identify, cut, and properly tape nonconforming sections. Place hose scrap in designated containers. Record defects and scrap on inspection sheets and update the required production system. Measure hose OD, ID, and pitch. Prepare and apply proper product labels. Cut burst and periodic samples as required. Clean plug gauges as needed. Pressure Testing Set up and operate pressure testing equipment according to manufacturing specifications. Configure proof and/or impact testing modes, jaws, mandrels, prefill, cycle time, and dump/purge pressure. Record PSI impact information on product tags. Cut hose ends and properly wrap them with tape. Move tested hose to the designated quality inspection area. General Production Responsibilities Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow 5S practices. Follow all safety regulations, quality requirements, and manufacturing procedures. Report production or equipment issues to the Team Leader. Work with Maintenance to resolve equipment-related issues. Perform other duties within the same or lower classification as assigned. Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and team-based improvement activities. Operate equipment efficiently to minimize product and component waste. Immediately report unsafe conditions, safety incidents, or environmental concerns to management. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Production or manufacturing experience preferred, but not required. Willingness to complete approximately 1?8 weeks of on-the-job training, with training potentially extending up to 10 weeks if needed. Must pass required pre-employment screening. Required Skills Basic computer skills. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Basic math, reading, and writing skills. Strong attention to detail and product quality. Ability to make sound decisions and follow established procedures. Ability to continuously monitor equipment and product quality. Ability to recognize changes in machine sounds and take appropriate action. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Physical Requirements This position is physically active and requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Regularly bend, twist, turn, reach, squat, kneel, push, pull, and lift. Reach below the knee and above shoulder level. Perform repetitive movements while maintaining attention to product quality. Handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Perform work requiring a high degree of manual dexterity, including in restrictive working conditions. Working Conditions Manufacturing environment with high noise levels from machinery and equipment. Potential physical hazards associated with operating machinery and moving reels. Steel-toe shoes, eye protection, and hearing protection are required in designated areas. Standing is required for extended periods. Flexible hours and short-notice overtime may be required. | |
