Position Summary The Hose Coil / Pressure Test Operator is responsible for coiling, inspecting, measuring, labeling, and pressure testing industrial hose according to manufacturing and quality specifications. This position requires strong attention to detail, good basic math and reading skills, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Previous production experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided. Key Responsibilities Hose Coiling Review hose for quality and conformance while coiling it onto reels. Verify part numbers, hose sizes, and job numbers according to manufacturing specifications. Review dimensions, tag colors, and take-up reel diameter. Inspect hose for defects, including broken or missing wires, kinks, and other product flaws. Identify, cut, and properly tape nonconforming sections of hose. Place hose scrap in designated containers. Record defects and scrap on inspection sheets and update the required production system. Measure hose outside diameter (OD), inside diameter (ID), and pitch. Prepare and apply proper product labels. Cut burst and periodic samples as required. Clean plug gauges as needed. Pressure Testing Operate pressure-testing equipment according to manufacturing specifications. Set up proof and/or impact test modes, jaws, mandrels, prefill, cycle time, and dump/purge pressure. Record PSI impact information on product tags. Cut hose ends and wrap them with tape. Move tested hose to the designated quality inspection area. General Responsibilities Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow 5S practices. Follow all safety regulations, quality standards, and manufacturing procedures. Report production or equipment issues to the Direct Lead. Work with Maintenance when equipment issues arise. Help prevent product and component waste by operating equipment efficiently. Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and team-based improvement activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements High school diploma or GED. Previous production/manufacturing experience preferred but not required. Willingness to complete approximately 1?8 weeks of on-the-job training, with training potentially extending to 10 weeks if needed. Basic computer skills. Basic math, reading, and writing skills. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and product quality. Ability to make sound decisions and follow established procedures. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Must pass required pre-employment screening. Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequently bend, twist, turn, reach, squat, kneel, push, and pull. Reach below the knee and above shoulder level. Perform repetitive physical tasks while maintaining attention to quality. Demonstrate good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with high noise levels from machinery and equipment. Potential hazards associated with operating machinery and moving reels. Steel-toe shoes, eye protection, and hearing protection are required. Extended periods of standing and physical activity are required. Flexible hours and short-notice mandatory overtime may be required. | |
