Position Overview We are seeking a Pipe Fabrication / Machine Operator to support pipe fabrication, material handling, machine operation, and shipping activities in a fast-paced shop and pipe yard environment. This position is ideal for candidates with a mechanical, manufacturing, fabrication, automotive, diesel, or equipment maintenance background who are comfortable operating machinery and working in a physically demanding environment. This is a non-climate-controlled work environment and can become very hot during warmer months. Key Responsibilities Move loose and bundled pipe throughout the shop and pipe yard. Assemble pipe orders, including individual sticks and bundled orders. Set up and maintain machinery used for pipe fabrication. Measure, record, and calculate pipe lengths accurately. Measure and cut pipe using band saws and/or torches. Thread and bevel pipe using Landis machines. Operate equipment used for rolling, grooving, cutting, threading, and fabrication. Perform quality checks using gauges and measuring tools. Sort and shift pipe ranging from ½" to 10". Operate powered industrial equipment safely and according to OSHA guidelines and company procedures. Inspect and maintain forklift equipment. Follow safety procedures for cutting, fabricating, assembling, stacking, and shipping pipe. Maintain an organized and safe work area. Work independently and as part of a team to meet production goals. Required Qualifications 6?8 months of recent machinery or mechanical experience. Experience operating machinery such as: Band saws Pipe threaders Automatic welding machines Roll groove machines Plasma cutting equipment Pneumatic banders Similar industrial machinery 3?6 months of forklift experience. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure. Ability to use gauges and other measuring equipment for quality checks. Strong basic math skills for calculating quantities and measurements. Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work safely in a physically demanding, non-climate-controlled environment. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills for operating automated machinery. Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply: Pipe fabrication Fire sprinkler pipe fabrication Manufacturing or production machinery Automotive production lines Auto mechanics Diesel mechanics Farm equipment repair Heavy equipment Machinery maintenance Mechanical assembly Fire sprinkler pipe fabrication experience of 6?8 months is preferred but not required. Physical & Work Environment Work is performed in a non-air-conditioned, non-climate-controlled environment. Employees may be exposed to high temperatures during warmer months. Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and handling pipe and materials. Must be comfortable working around industrial machinery and powered equipment. Must follow all required safety procedures and PPE requirements. | |
