Position Overview We are seeking a mechanically skilled Pipe Fabrication / Machine Operator to support pipe handling, fabrication, cutting, threading, measuring, and shipping operations. The ideal candidate will have 6?8 months of recent machinery or mechanical experience, forklift experience, and the ability to accurately use tape measures and gauges for quality checks. Experience in fire sprinkler pipe fabrication is preferred, but candidates with automotive, diesel, machinery maintenance, farm equipment, or similar mechanical backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Move loose and bundled pipe throughout the shop and yard. Assemble pipe orders, including individual sticks and bundles. Maintain organized work supplies and a clean work area. Set up and maintain machinery used for pipe fabrication. Operate powered industrial equipment according to OSHA guidelines and company procedures. Measure, record, and calculate random pipe lengths accurately. Measure and cut pipe using band saws or torches. Thread and bevel pipe using Landis machines. Operate and work around equipment such as roll groove machines, plasma cutters, automatic welding machines, and pneumatic banders. Sort and shift pipe ranging from ½" to 10". Perform quality checks using tape measures and gauges. Inspect and maintain forklift equipment. Follow safety procedures for fabricating, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping pipe. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Required Qualifications 6?8 months of recent machinery or mechanical experience. Experience with machinery such as: Band saws Automatic welding machines Pipe threaders Roll groove machines Plasma cutting equipment Pneumatic banders 3?6 months of forklift experience. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure. Experience using gauges for quality checks. Strong mechanical aptitude. Basic computer skills for operating automated machinery. Strong math skills for calculating product quantities and measurements. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work safely in a fast-paced pipe-yard environment. Preferred Qualifications 6?8 months of fire sprinkler pipe fabrication experience. Experience with pipe cutting, threading, beveling, or fabrication. Automotive mechanic experience. Diesel mechanic experience. Machinery maintenance experience. Automotive production line experience. Farm equipment or similar mechanical experience. Physical & Environmental Requirements Must be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment that can become very hot. Must be able to safely handle and move pipe and materials throughout the shop and yard. Ability to work around industrial machinery and powered equipment. Ability to follow all required safety procedures and PPE requirements. | |
