Embedded Senior Software Engineer **Location:** Hauppauge, NY **Position Type:** Direct Hire **Work Schedule:** 100% Onsite **Salary:** $106,000 ? $142,000 + 12.5% Annual Bonus ## Position Overview We are seeking an experienced **Embedded Senior Software Engineer** to join a team developing advanced fuel measurement, management, and inerting systems for commercial and defense aerospace applications. This position is ideal for an experienced embedded software engineer who enjoys working on **safety-critical, highly regulated systems** and has a strong background in **C programming, microcontrollers, software development, verification, and project ownership**. The successful candidate will spend approximately **75% of their time on hands-on software development** and **25% on project leadership and management**, owning projects from initial planning through execution and completion. ## Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, integrate, and verify embedded software for aerospace and industrial applications. * Develop embedded software using **C** and/or model-based development tools such as **SCADE**. * Develop both high-level and low-level software requirements. * Create requirements-based test cases and software verification procedures. * Perform software integration testing on target hardware using real and simulated inputs and outputs. * Analyze software requirements, architecture, design, and code to ensure compliance with applicable standards and guidelines. * Perform requirements-to-code traceability analysis. * Participate in software certification activities and audits, including **Stages of Involvement (SOI)**. * Work closely with Systems Engineering and Electrical/Hardware Engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle. * Lead assigned projects from start to finish, including planning, execution, coordination, and delivery. * Manage project activities, timelines, priorities, and technical execution while remaining actively involved in development. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues. ## Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in **Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science**, or a related field. * **5+ years of experience** in embedded software development, verification, integration, or a combination of these. * **Required:** Professional experience developing embedded software within a **regulated, safety-critical, or highly controlled environment**. * **Required:** Strong proficiency with **C programming** and experience developing software for microcontrollers. * **Required:** Demonstrated experience **owning and leading software projects from start to finish**, including planning, execution, and delivery. * Experience with software development and design assurance practices such as one or more of the following: * DO-178 / DO-178C * ISO 26262 * EN 50128 * IEC 61508 * IEC 62304 * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment. * Must be a **U.S. Citizen**. * Ability and willingness to work **100% onsite in Hauppauge, NY**. ## Preferred Qualifications * Experience with **SCADE** or other model-based software development tools. * Experience developing embedded software control systems. * Experience with **Agile software development** methodologies. * Experience planning and executing technical projects. * Experience managing software requirements using **IBM DOORS or DOORS Next Generation (DNG)**. * Experience with digital signal processing or digital filter design. * Experience with **ARM microprocessors**. * Experience with serial communication protocols such as: * CANbus * ARINC * RS-232 * Aerospace software certification experience, including **DO-178C, DO-330, or DO-331**. * Experience with industrial or functional safety standards, including **IEC 61508, ISO 26262, IEC 62061, ISO 13489, or ARP4761**. * Aerospace, defense, industrial, medical device, automotive, railway, or other regulated-industry experience. ## Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a **hands-on senior embedded software engineer and technical project leader** who can take ownership of a project from concept through completion. You should be comfortable writing and reviewing **C code for microcontroller-based systems**, working with hardware, developing and verifying software requirements, and operating within a regulated development environment. This is **not a web development position**.
