CorTech is seeking to hire a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for our client in Santa Rosa, CA!

This position is NonExempt. Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half. Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components. Studies blood cells, their numbers, and morphology. Performs blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes. Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer. Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data. Engages in medical research under direction of Chief Medical Technologist. Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data. Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement, and maintenance needed of equipment. Trains and supervises students.

Responsibilities

Consistently and accurately completes moderate to highly complex testing adhering to established laboratory procedures, CLIA and state of California requirements.
Provides support to healthcare providers with result correlations, definition of criterion for test performance acceptability, enhanced understanding of test methodologies and test limitations.
Completes review and analysis of QC, Proficiency Testing and Peer Group data to make statistical inference regarding error primality and it?s type, and coordinates appropriate corrective action.
Helps oversee performance and guidance of laboratory support personell (Technicians, Processors) by providing technical and behivioral support.
Prepares and tests reagents, controls, and evaluates performance acceptability based on established criteria.
Determines the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria in testing procedures.
Determines the acceptability of analysis prior to releasing results. Takes appropriate action in response to unusual or unexpected results.
Reviews and accurately enters results of testing.
Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment and properly documenting actions taken as directed by laboratory procedures.
Safely handle hazardous materials observing all safety rules and regulations to mitigate underlying risk of exposure to self and others. Promptly report incidents, near misses and chemical spills to EH&S.
Review calibration and QC results to ensure they meet specification limits and that appropriate corrective actions are taken to achieve acceptability prior to releasing any test results.
Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment and properly documenting actions taken based on approved schedule.
Identify inconsistent lab results and inform the appropriate group of observed inconsistencies.
Monitor QC performance for shifts and/or trends and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
Clean and maintain analytical equipment to manufacturer specifications, assist with troubleshooting as necessary and, calibrate acceptably prior to use per CLIA requirements.
Maintain proper documentation for calibration, QC acceptance, equipment maintenance, specimen handling, and results certification as required.
Support Validation studies in compliance with approved protocol.
Assist with training and support for Unlicensed Testing Personnel
As applicable, attend seminars and obtain training as necessary to maintain and improve professional knowledge and to satisfy continuing education requirements for state of California CLS licensing.

Required Qualifications
Must be licensed by the state of California under BPC, Chapter 3 as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist or Chemist).
Bachelors? Degree in Science.
Minimum 1 Years? Experience in clinical laboratory
Strong work ethic with commitment to safety, compliance, and quality.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences and provide coaching to peers and sub-ordinates.
Preferred Qualifications

Generalist with experience in clinical chemistry and quality control data evaluation; method development and validation of laboratory developed tests.
