Job Description:
The Central Engineering organization is seeking to hire a highly dedicated and motivated individual to join its team. The selected applicant will be assigned to the Project Engineering department of Central Engineering. The selected applicant will plan, organize, and direct multi phased engineering projects, including discipline engineering activities to ensure that Central Engineering work is on schedule, within budget and in accordance with applicable specifications, drawings, safety, environmental and quality requirements. The selected candidate will be exposed to and will be required to direct projects within any of the Central Operations organizations of Substation Operations, Steam Operations, and System & Transmission Operations on behalf of Central Engineering. This includes the responsibility for providing oversight and leadership for implementation of the project and providing periodic project progress and financial reports to the appropriate company executives and outside regulatory agencies. This position requires excellent communications skills with the ability to interact with personnel & departments across all levels, including Public Affairs, Legal, Cost Control, etc as well as customers and vendors outside of the Company.

The position requires a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. Additionally the position requires strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite applications including Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint, as well as Primavera, Project Explorer, and Team Center. Knowledge of Substations, Steam Stations, and System and Transmission Systems is preferred to compliment our customers work areas.

Additional:
Requires Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) certification and/or Project Management certification is preferred. Project Engineer requires 5 years of relevant work experience to include directing technical, scheduling, and financial activities as well as, coordinating responses to field and/or operations personnel working in utilities /construction /steam /power generation or heavy industrial /commercial projects.

Core Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing the engineering team on major projects. This includes planning the overall project with the Project Manager, and managing the delivery of engineering products according to schedule and in compliance with the Central Engineering quality standards. Specific responsibilities of the Project Engineer include: approving scope documents, engineering estimates, appropriations, change requests, and assembling the Engineering team and participating in reviewing drawings, specifications, user and field comments for completeness and accuracy. The Project Engineer works closely with technical departments as well as project schedulers and cost estimators as required to develop and monitor assigned projects. Organizes and schedules project meetings. Records minutes of project meetings and catalogs in appropriate project archive. Prepare status updates and reports. Track action items and maintain action items lists. Catalogs project documents in appropriate archives. Coordinates review of documents among stakeholders utilizing electronic mark-up tools such as Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam through existing document management infrastructure (TeamCenter, Sharepoint, Project Explorer).

The Project Engineer works directly with the Steam Operations, Substation Operations, or System & Transmission Operations Project or Program Managers, as the single point of contact for Central Engineering for assigned projects; coordinates and attends field visits, field walks and pre-award meetings; ensures that all projects are entered into the appropriate electronic systems including job plans, estimates, schedules, design documentation, engineering calculations and procurement information; coordinates and attends engineering package and schedule review meetings; provides technical support during field construction activities with Steam Operations, Substation Operations, System & Transmission Operations and other departments as requested; and ensures that the appropriate Company health, safety, and environmental requirements are reviewed and implemented by the appropriate project team members for each assigned project.
Additionally, the Project Engineer ensures that all regulatory notifications and documentation is coordinated with the with the proper Company stakeholders. When applicable, the Project Engineer will act as a liaison with regulatory and public officials during the engineering and construction phases of the project. The Project Engineer also assures that the project team provides all the necessary information to allow for necessary project permits to be secured.
Specifically, the Project Engineer will support the completion of the Storm Hardening program and the various projects that this entails. During and after completion of this program the Project Engineer will be assigned to other projects and department initiatives as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Must hold a valid driver's license with own vehicle. Travel within service territory required. Must be able to make field visits as required and wear the proper PPE.
