Pay Rate: $60 - $65/hr The Central Engineering Services department seeks a dedicated, dynamic, and innovative individual to join its' management team as an ESTIMATOR. Estimators will prepare conceptual, authorization and appropriation cost estimates for multi discipline construction projects of commercial building facilities; will develop estimates based on preliminary work scopes, drawings and sketches, and site conditions, while relying on personal experiences to fill in missing information; will rely on construction expertise to determine means & methods and inform the project schedule; will reference historical data and cost libraries to determine costs for specific activities and resources. This position requires an understanding of the capital budget process and utility or commercial building economics in the preparation of authorization and appropriation estimates used to obtain project funding approvals. The Estimator will contribute to the development of project work scopes during estimate preparation to ensure project construct ability and lower costs ; will evaluate alternative designs and contribute to the optimum design selection; meet with engineering, construction and the user organizations to ensure all aspects of the project have been incorporated in the estimate. Candidates should have applicable work experience in any of the following areas: commercial building, power utility or heavy industrial cost estimating experience in at least one discipline (e.g., electrical, civil, mechanical, etc.) with knowledge in other disciplines, OR, commercial building, transmission, distribution or generation engineering design, OR commercial building, transmission, distribution or generation construction experience. | |
