CorTech is seeking to hire a Designer II for our client in Gainesville, TX! Benefits Available! Weekly Pay! $55.00/Hour Shift Start and End Time M-Th 7-5:30p Job Summary: Create designs of aircraft interior products ranging from but not limited to: bins, galleys, lavatories, ceiling panels or seats used in commercial and private aircrafts using a computer aided drafting system and support existing designs of products which are manufactured on site. While creating new designs, considerations of certification, composites/general material selection due to weight restrictions in aircrafts and ease of manufacturing is necessary. Product designs range from basic interiors products used in regional aircraft, commercial airlines, first class and high end private jets products. Duties: Produce innovative, intelligent designs (drawings) for on site production in a timely manner with respect to the project schedule, while optimizing ease of manufacturing, cost, weight and function; Develop quality designs and evaluate cost, weight, and ensure the design is producible within the time constraints of a project; Design to mandatory regulatory requirements, customer and company specifications; Produce accurate drawings, preliminary layouts, production details and assembly drawings while meeting drawing release dates; Produce ECNs (Engineering Change Notice) as required to support manufacturing, customers, quality and certification; Prepare drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of the product designed; Act as a shop liaison during initial production of new product designs to prevent and/or solve any engineering issue that may arise; Identify problems and seek solutions.; Verify, check and sign off on co-workers engineering drawings; Examine suppliers lead times, costs and availability for parts and tooling necessary to manufacture the product being designed. Experience: 3-6 years Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills Builds knowledge of the organization, processes and customers Solves a range of straightforward problems Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction Education: BS in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Computer Skills: MS Office Suite, MS Windows, AutoCAD, Catia V5 Other Skills: Understanding of aircraft trim and finish practices, basics of airworthiness requirements for passenger aircraft, and mechanical systems and strengths of materials. Occupational Summary: Design coordination of seats and seat components. Coordinates changes with other internal company departments, vendors, and customers. Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions): Reviews specification as related to assigned job. Prepares check list. Prepares lay-outs. Prepares structural sub-assemblies and drawings. Prepares sketches for details. Reviews drawing package to assure conformance to requirements. Submits completed drawings to project lead for approval and release. Liaison for assigned task. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements: Knowledge and Skills: Must have excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer. Must be able to provide complicated lay-outs and program design studies. Must be able to interact successfully with engineering, tooling, and manufacturing departments. Must be able to function as part of a design team. Must have a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes. Education and Experience: Must have a Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree (minimum of 12 years equivalent related engineering experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor?s degree) plus an additional 2 years of related design experience required. OR Must have a Master?s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree plus 1 year of related design experience required. Competencies: Acts in accordance with company values and related competencies. Communication Skills: Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. Ability to read and review written communication. Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems and think strategically. Physical Demands: This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, computer and copy machine, etc. Bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job. | |
