CorTech is seeking to hire an Engineer for our client in Middlefield, CT!

Job Description

Create/Review assembly BOMs: understand drawing structure, release process, ECO process.
Analyze existing product structures for cost, and especially lead-time (identifying long-lead items for early procurement).
Lead a team of multi-disciplinary engineers (mechanical, electrical, optical, software), coordinating their work with an emphasis on maintaining schedule and to a lesser extent, cost.
Assist with documentation, communication, and other administrative tasks when possible.
Call meetings to initiate important discussions between different departments when necessary, including assignment and tracking of action items with due dates.
Purchasing material: Request quotes from suppliers for cost and lead-time on new or older items, help identify new or alternate suppliers for parts based on commodity-code, work with Procurement to address issues with fabrication, quality, delivery, etc.
Internally-manufactured parts: Work with Operations to work out priorities, new procedures (where needed), required tooling, etc. Could be for Instruments Mfg or Optics Mfg or Richmond?
Operations support: Work with Manufacturing during assembly/test to keep project on schedule, anticipate bottlenecks and shortages, and train technicians on fabrication when needed. Make decisions on non-conformances and defects (e.g. scrap, rework, etc.) and coordinate repairs when needed
Planning: Ability to plan out a project schedule using Microsoft Project (e.g. Gantt charts) to prepare milestones, estimated completion dates, and manage resources. Utilize ERP systems to generate demand, track material, manage costs?
Multi-tasking: Manage multiple projects at a time, in different phases of execution? Communicate (daily?) with Marketing Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing on the status of outstanding action items to keep moving forward on schedule.
Report progress at weekly meetings, and communicate progress (achievements, obstacles, risks) to upper management.
