Job Description:

The Quality Control (QC) Technician is responsible for performing QC final testing of products, as well as, conducting raw material, stability, complaint, and special investigation testing. Is also responsible for insuring all testing are performed correctly and results are reported promptly.

1. Application according to areas of QC laboratory in which work is performed:
a) Serology
? Perform testing for all RPR product line. Report results on data forms.
? Perform Physical, chemical and serological testing to raw materials and record result.
? Perform stability, complaint testing and Laboratory Services Request (LRS).
? Formulate appropriate RPR serum panel concentration for QC and manufacturing testing.
? Use the following laboratory equipment: pH Meter, Balance, LOD Vacuum Oven, filtration system, Rotator, Pipette aid, etc.
? Perform rotators and Pipettes calibrations.
b) Microbiology
? Perform testing for Sensi-Disc / GasPak / Bactec / Difco product lines. Report results on data forms.
? Perform physical, chemical and microbiological testing to raw materials, finished products and the record results.
? Perform stability, complaint testing and Laboratory Services Request (LSR)
? Prepare and standardize microorganism suspensions used for QC testing.
? Prepare and autoclave media and reagents used in QC testing.
? Use the following laboratory equipment that apply for each testing area: pH Meter, Microscope, Balance, Water bath, Incubator, Pipette aid, Spectrophotometer, Biological Safety Cabinet, Fume Hood, Centrifuge, Melting Point Apparatus, HPLC, IR, Karl Fisher, LOD Oven, GC, Bactec 9240 and FX Instruments, etc.
c) Molecular
? Perform functional testing for Molecular Diagnostic products using Affirm Systems.
? Perform physical inspection, chemical and molecular testing to raw materials and record results.
? Perform stability testing, complaint testing and Laboratory Services Request (LSR).
? Perform environmental monitoring.
Performs plant microbiological/chemical water testing.
Complete and Issue OOS investigation reports of raw material and final product failing to meet QC specifications.
Maintain retention samples organized under appropriate environmental conditions. Keep record (log) of all retention samples.
Maintain laboratory working areas cleaned and organized, and comply with housekeeping, safety program, and
Keep record log of the laboratory areas under responsibility.
Follows GLP/QSR/ISO 9001-13485, PAL and ANVISA regulations.
. Assist Quality System Specialist and other QA/QC staff on special projects and validations.
Assist in the maintenance of adequate supplies for the laboratory.
Clean and prepare glassware needed.
Active participation on Lean activities.
Perform weekly/monthly tasks assigned by the supervisor or designee.

A. Education:
BS/BA Degree in one Life Sciences, Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, Chemistry or related field. Good communication skills (written and spoken) in English and Spanish. Ability to read comprehensively and follow written and oral instruction. Ability to write for accurate record keeping of procedures, results and calculations.
B. Experience:
One to three years experience in a laboratory environment.
? Concentration and visual attention to the procedures may be mentally and physically straining. Depending on the testing performance, the coordination of manual activities with mental/visual attention may be required for extended periods of time.
? Exposed to noise, heat and odors, but none of them in a continuous basis.
