PURPOSE OF JOB As part of the Innovation Team to support our strategy and addressable market expansion, the product development/testing technician will support the acceleration of product prototyping through woodwork and crafting. The work will include prototype fabrication and development in lab or field settings, collaboration with test lab on data collection. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES MVP Prototype fabrication and development (50%) Fast fabricate customer-driven prototypes with various materials, such as wood, plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), insulation fibers, plexiglass, etc. Develop customer-driven prototypes with minimal instructions and supervision within a given timeline Support the validation of prototypes to refine the concepts through iterations Provide technical feedback to the customers and within the team Live the organization safety culture daily to work safely and to identify and drive improvements Collaboration with test lab on data collection (50%) Support test lab on the evaluation or validation of new prototypes Help develop new test methods for test lab setup Communicate and coordinate between product development and test lab through prototype iterations JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Live in a safety culture: safely conduct prototyping and testing activities; follow, initiate, document SOPs, JHAs, test methods, etc. Ability to repetitively lift objects up to 50 lbs. Stand for a large portion of the day Drive a forklift or able to obtain a forklift certificate Proficient in using machinery and tools, such as saws, drills, nail guns, staplers, etc. Experience or capability to learn machinery operation, such injection molding machine, compounder, extrusion machine, etc. Experience or capability to learn AutoCAD or 3D drawings software, such as Solidworks, Inventors, etc. Drive with speed: execute or support prototyping and testing needs from product development team to meet time commitment PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in building industry or building material industry, especially in framing, carpentry, woodwork.
