CorTech is seeking to hire a Failure Analysis Quality Engineer for our client in Alameda, CA!

8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Onsite for a minimum of 3 days with 2 allowed to work from home
Bachelor?s degree is required in Electrical, Mechanical, Software or Biomedical.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in Electrical, Mechanical or Software engineering, as well as 3 to 5 years of experience in engineering and operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with CAPA and root cause analysis, as well as technical writing. Additionally, medical device environment experience, such as with ISO 13485 and DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) methodology, such as Six Sigma or Black Belt, is a must, as the candidate will be expected to follow the DMAIC process. Proficiency in Excel is also required, and experience with JUMP is preferred but not required. The candidate will work with cross-functional teams, including R&D and Manufacturing, and may need to work with colleagues in different time zones.

Primary Function / Primary Goals/Objectives:
Track and report T&I and device complaint metrics; Able to perform and document returned product analyses within a timely manner to determine the failure modes and root causes associated with returned devices; Able to perform high and low priority investigations on all devices manufactured at the plant; Review and approve Test and Investigation reports for completeness and accuracy; Train peers to and provide engineering support on product investigation and documentation; Willingness to work within a biohazard environment; Dedication to quality assurance and teamwork; Affinity for self-guided learning; Keen attention to detail; Willingness to occasionally perform activities outside the job description.

Major Responsibilities: Provide back-up to the T&I supervisor; The overall quality of the analyses generated by the lab; Communicate adverse device findings and trends as encountered during the Test and Investigation process; To acquire a thorough understanding of each of the devices at the site: how they operate, how they are manufactured, how the customer is trained to use them, and how they can fail in the field; To convey that understanding to others so as to increase the knowledge base of the T&I group and the company.

Education: A bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline from an accredited institution and at least 1 year of relevant work experience or a master's degree in a scientific discipline.

Knowledge: Sound knowledge in the use of various Microsoft (or equivalent) applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Solid technical background with mechanical systems; Able to maintain multiple responsibilities with differing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines; Strong written and oral technical communication skills with experience compiling/presenting technical data in a clear readable format; Able to maintain constructive relationships with individuals at all levels and functions within the organization.
