CorTech is seeking to hire a Patient Service Coordinator for our client's dental clinic in Baltimore, MD! Benefits Available! Weekly Pay! $23.00/Hour Familiarity with dental and medical terminology is a huge plus! Please make sure the applicable skills and experience are in your resume. Responsible for checking in patients for their appointments, checking out patients and assigning a follow up appointment if necessary, verifying insurance, collecting payments and processing referrals. Also responsible for assisting providers as needed. Communicates with staff to efficiently, professionally, and accurately schedule deliveries and appointments by integrating various sources of information, such as daily capacity, employee needs, and employee capabilities. Will be required to enter data in the computer as needed. Checks in and checks out patients and schedules a follow up appointment if necessary. Verifies insurance, collects payments and processes referrals. May assist healthcare providers as needed. Communicates with staff to efficiently, professionally, and accurately schedule deliveries and appointments. Enters data in the computer as needed. General summary/purpose: Within the Department of Otolaryngology-(Dental Clinic), the Patient Service Coordinator will offer friendly, courteous, and confidential assistance to every patient to ensure that the patient has a positive experience while at Client. Maintains accurate information on each patient to facilitate the patient encounter. Uses automated systems to expedite patient scheduling, pre-registration, check-in, and check-out. Works with others in a team environment. Specific duties & responsibilities: Schedules patients for laboratory tests, medical examinations, and consultations in the dental clinic. Relays information to patients regarding preparation for laboratory tests and examinations. Coordinates visits either within the department or between several departments. Telephones and interviews patients and/or family members to obtain accurate pre-registration information and to confirm appointments. Prints and mails directions, maps, fee schedules, and department specific information to patients. Sends medical questionnaire forms to patients to obtain missing information. Verifies and enters pre-registration and insurance information into the computer system and prepares daily printed schedules for designated areas. Obtain and /or verifies patient?s demographic data by phone or in person. Confirms appointments by telephone and/or mail. Fills vacancies due to cancellations. Obtains pre-certifications as required by patients? health care insurers or managed care providers. Registers patients for clinical appointments using computerized database. Assists patients or family members with completion of medical insurance forms. Informs patients of costs or care being provided, and guides them to appropriate resources for further information, guidance, or assistance. Arranges or assists in arranging patient transportation. Answers phones and provides routine information to callers. Reviews patient charges and extracts chargeable items. Collects time of service payments, issues receipts, and prepares cash settlement records. Assigns diagnostic and procedures codes to charge vouchers for computer input. Enters patient charges into computer system. Discusses patient charges, if appropriate, with patients and/or patients? families. Evaluates eligibility for alternative sources of financing such as Medicaid, Patient Care Funds, loans or other payment sources. Refers patient to appropriate office and ensures application for funds has been made. Prepares patient?s statement of charges and reviews with patient. Assists with basic insurance and third party queries and explains payment policies. Other duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications (mandatory): Minimum Requirements= High School Diploma/GED required. One year work experience required in a similar service- oriented industry. Minimum one year medical office and/or surgery scheduling experience preferred. Knowledge of medical insurance coverage preferred. Ability to multitask and work in a high volume setting. Excellent analytical and communication skills coupled with patience and fortitude. Preferred qualifications: familiar with dental procedures and medical terminology. Courses in Dental Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology, or demonstrated appropriate knowledge preferred. Special knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knows the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures which may include some familiarity of other departments within the school/division.
