Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team in the field of power systems. Reporting to the R&D director, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting tests, performing experiments, and providing technical support in our power systems laboratory. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and hands-on experience with power systems equipment. Responsibilities: 1. Test Execution: Conduct a variety of tests on power systems equipment, including transformers, generators, switchgear, and transmission lines, to evaluate performance, efficiency, and reliability. 2. Experimentation: Design, set up, and execute experiments to evaluate and optimize power systems components and configurations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols. 3. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues and malfunctions in power systems equipment, utilizing diagnostic tools, schematics, and test procedures. 4. Calibration and Maintenance: Perform regular calibration and maintenance tasks on laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results. 5. Data Collection and Analysis: Record and analyze test data, including voltage, current, power factor, and other relevant parameters, using software tools and spreadsheets. 6. Report Generation: Prepare clear and concise reports documenting test results, observations, and recommendations for improvement, ensuring timely delivery to project stakeholders. 7. Equipment Inventory Management: Maintain an up-to-date inventory of laboratory equipment, including procurement, storage, and organization of tools, parts, and supplies. 8. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working in the laboratory, ensuring a safe and clean working environment for all team members. 9. Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the research and development team, sharing knowledge, insights, and recommendations to support the continuous improvement of power systems technologies. 10. Documentation: Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and test protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Qualifications: 1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A relevant associate degree or technical diploma with significant work experience will also be considered. 2. Experience: At least 2 years of hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in the field of power systems or electrical engineering using up to 480 v, 3-phase voltage. 3. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of power systems equipment, testing methodologies, and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with electrical measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and multimeters. 4. Analytical Skills: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret test data using software tools and spreadsheets. Proficiency in data analysis techniques and statistical methods is a plus. 5. Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests, recording data, and preparing reports. 6. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document and present technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 7. Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to team goals and supporting colleagues. 8. Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. 9. Safety Consciousness: High awareness of safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring adherence to safety measures in the laboratory. 10. Problem Solving: Proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions.
