Job Overview:
A CAD Drafter is responsible for transforming design concepts and specifications into accurate, detailed, and precise technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software. They work closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to create visual representations of various projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to effectively communicate design ideas through drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and Design: Create technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and 2D/3D models based on project requirements and specifications.

Software Proficiency: Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit) to develop and modify drawings. Stay updated with the latest software versions and tools.

Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to understand design concepts, gather information, and make necessary revisions to drawings.

Precision and Accuracy: Ensure that all drawings are accurate, conform to industry standards, and contain all essential details for construction or manufacturing.

Documentation: Maintain organized and up-to-date records of drawings, revisions, and design changes.

Quality Control: Review and verify the accuracy of drawings and models to identify and rectify any errors or discrepancies.

Technical Knowledge: Stay informed about industry-specific standards and regulations to ensure compliance in all drawings.

Communication: Effectively communicate design ideas and changes with project team members through drawings and written documentation.

Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve design and drafting issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.

Meeting Deadlines: Adhere to project schedules and deadlines, ensuring that drawings are completed and delivered on time.

Qualifications:

Education: A degree or certificate in drafting, CAD technology, engineering, architecture, or a related field is often required.

CAD Software Skills: Proficiency in CAD software tools relevant to the specific industry (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit).

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of technical principles, measurements, and industry-specific standards.

Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail is crucial to create accurate and error-free drawings.

Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve design issues effectively.

Communication: Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members and convey design ideas.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage and maintain a library of drawings and revisions.

Experience: Experience in CAD drafting in a relevant industry is often preferred.
Required to have experience preparing engineering drawings at a power facility or comparable facility. Prepares engineering drawings to support conceptual designs developed by engineers. Required to have demonstrated proficiency using CAD software or other design software.
GAS DISTRIBUTION EXPERIENCE, UTILITY, MICROSTATION experience a MUST 3-5 yrs+

b. CAD exp 5 years+, MicroStation exp 4-5 yrs+
c. 2 yr Technical Degree+ or equivalent certification (minimum) ? no high school
