JobsRUs.com seeks motivated, reliable employees with strong work ethic for Mechanical Assembler I positions in Norfolk, VA.

Shift:
Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm with occasional overtime required

Position Summary:
Candidate is responsible for safe, accurate and timely assembly of mechanical parts using a variety of tools and equipment to build compressors or other sub-assemblies at required standards.

Job Functions:
Assemble units using standard hand and power tools to include air-powered tools by reading from schematics, drawings and diagrams.
Position or align components for sub-assembly, assembly, manually or using hoists.
Determine if all parts are present; communicate to the immediate supervisor the status of needed parts to produce units.
Focus on achieving the company?s established goals.
Maintain a work environment in accordance with Lean 5S standards and perform tasks in accordance with company safety standards.
Use any specialized tooling that is required in the respective area. Complete any necessary certifications if required to do so.
Ensure all parts are fitted and screwed in properly.
Interpret measurements.
Reject product which does not conform to specifications
Report errors in the product line. Notify supervisor when encountering defective material.
Evaluate quality of finished product.
Regular and reliable attendance.

Essential Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; Or at least one year of related experience in general assembly work or mechanical trade work.
Can adapt and thrive in a constantly changing environment.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for placement of parts.
Proficient in using tape measures, scales, squares, etc.
Must be able to operate standard hand, power and air tools.
Able to fellow directions and work independently.
Possess high quality standards.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand, walk, use hands, fingers, handle, or grasp; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Candidates are required to wear all necessary personal protective equipment (safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, masks, etc). Also must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Any lifting over 50 pounds is required to be done with assistance.
