Pay rate: 20.00 Welder 1st Shift:5:00AM - 1:30PM MIG Welding Job Summary: Welds metal objects together by means of an oxyacetylene torch or arc welder apparatus. Sets up pre-fitted parts for welding. Uses hand tools, clamp, jigs and fixtures. In addition to performing hand welding or brazing operations, working from specifications, drawings, prints or welding symbols, a welder may also lay out guide lines or marks on metal parts and may cut metal with a cutting torch. Works on a variety of metals and alloys. May require 4 position welding. May involve work on high pressure, code, certification or other work involving critical safety and load requirements. Roles & Responsibilities: Starts power supply to produce electric current. Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length or arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle. Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. Examines weld for bead size and other specifications. Cleans and degreases weld joint or workplace. Prepares broken parts for welding by grooving or scarping the surface. Chips of excess welds, slag and spatter. Positions and clamps components together or assembles them in jig or fixture. Tacks assemblies together. Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of measurement, volume, and distance.
