Job Description:

Project Development and Delivery, an innovative origination within Transmission Line Engineering, that is tasked with the integration of clean energy into Con Edison electrical systems seeks a dedicated, dynamic, and innovative Estimator to augment its team. The selected Estimator will be on the leading edge of incorporating renewable energy generation such as Offshore Wind, Large Scale Batteries and Hydroelectric into the distribution system. In addition, the selected Estimator will support large scale infrastructure projects throughout our service territory. Candidates must be committed to excellence, and personal safety (Rules We Live By), be able to provide exemplary customer service, collaborate with co-workers to make sound decisions, demonstrate a high energy level, work under pressure, and be able to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting stringent deadlines. Strong organizational, teamwork, leadership, interpersonal communication, and decision-making skills are essential. To succeed in this position, the candidate must be self-motivated, resourceful, articulate and possess a "can-do" attitude with a clear sense of accountability while understanding what it takes to meet our customers' needs. The candidate must be familiar with the engineering, design, and construction of substations and transmission facilities.

The individual must have prior experience in developing electrical, mechanical and or civil cost estimates for substations and/or transmission projects. An understanding of the capital budget process and utility economics in the preparation of authorization and appropriation estimates is preferred. Strong oral and written communications skills are required. Computer proficiency is required including knowledge of Microsoft Project/Office and estimating computer applications and databases. Familiarity with local, state, national, and industry codes and standards is preferred.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE: To develop complex, multi discipline conceptual, authorization and appropriation cost estimates for multi discipline substation construction projects and transmission facilities while developing estimates based nonpreliminary work scopes, drawings, and sketches. Candidate will be required to evaluate alternative designs and contribute to the optimum design selection.
