The Quality Assurance Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining product consistency and ensuring compliance with established specifications in a quality assurance setting. This position involves performing various routine laboratory operations, including quantitative and qualitative biological or chemical analytical tests.

Job Duties

Routine Laboratory Operations

Make measurements and conduct analytical tests based on standard procedures.
Monitor the production process and product using sensory, weight control, and analytical methods.

Product Quality Evaluation

Evaluate finished products for moisture, ingredient content, breakage, color, package fill, raw and finished weights, seal integrity, and code date legibility.

Testing

Inspect and test incoming raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, and products from external suppliers.
Utilize testing equipment for validation and calibration.
Accurately perform and document all testing activities.

Communication

Communicate out of compliance situations and product standards to production employees and Production QA Supervisors.
Notify appropriate personnel of any abnormal findings in raw materials storage areas.

Safety and Hygiene

Adhere to safety and hygiene guidelines for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
Follow safety procedures when handling chemicals for testing.
Strictly follow instructions for safe lifting.

Food Safety and Quality

Execute the Food Safety Plan and Food Quality Plan within the SQF Program at the front-line level.
Monitor the effectiveness and conformance of the Food Safety Plan and Food Quality Plan with SQF system requirements.

Product Disposition

Identify, investigate, and determine whether out-of-compliance finished products should be placed on hold.
Coordinate disposition and rework with leadership approval.

Monitoring and Auditing

Monitor metal detection validation and verification.
Audit allergen maintenance repair sheets and operator forms.
Conduct pre-op inspections of processing, packaging, and mixing equipment after product changeovers and/or prior to weekly production start-up as a cross-functional team.
Perform plant sanitation verifications to ensure allergen-free and clean equipment.
Additional Responsibilities:

Complete shift tailings.
Participate in Kleanz or respective programs if applicable.
Mandatory overtime is required.

Other Duties

May perform other duties as required.
