Welds metal objects together by means of an oxyacetylene torch or arc welder apparatus. Sets up pre-fitted parts for welding. Uses hand tools, clamp, jigs and fixtures. In addition to performing hand welding or brazing operations, working from specifications, drawings, prints or welding symbols, a welder may also lay out guide lines or marks on metal parts and may cut metal with a cutting torch. Works on a variety of metals and alloys. May require 4 position welding. May involve work on high pressure, code, certification or other work involving critical safety and load requirements. Roles & Responsibilities: Starts power supply to produce electric current. Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length or arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle. Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.## | |
