Description:
Designs, develops, and maintain software applications for controlling electromechanical automated testers and systems
Automation Software Engineer Requirements.
Experience Level:
At least 3 years experience in the specific role but may have some general working experience - focus on developing multiple types/categories of software including end-user applications and operating systems/utility software. The work includes:
Conducting requirements gathering and analysis to understand the domain of the software problem and/or functionality, the interfaces between hardware and software, and the overall software characteristics
Using programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write the software code
Supporting software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements
Applying knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Key Responsibilities:
Designs, develops, and maintain software applications for controlling electromechanical automated testers and systems.
Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.
Programming abilities:
Need to be proficient in programming languages like Python, Java, C/C++, LabView, and MATLAB.
Communication skills:
Need to be able to clearly communicate test results, testing requirements, and defects to stakeholders, developers, and tester.
Attention to detail:
Need to be able to tolerate a lot of trial and error to perfect a system.
Analytical skills:
Need to be able to analyze products properly during the software testing processes.
Other skills:
Automation engineers may also need to establish quality assurance processes and monitoring, troubleshooting automated processes, and identify new automation opportunities.
