Remote: 90% traveling required. (U.S and to other countries)

Shift: 9am Local time of the country, visit two- three site a day, end day 4pm.


Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Optical Fiber Technician eager to work and learn. Our client will provide comprehensive training for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Test end-to-end optical fiber connectivity using various apparatus from OSP handoff to customer equipment via fusion splicing.
Conduct complete fiber characterization, including Fusion Machine, OTDR, CD/PMD, Optical Insertion Loss measurements, and fiber end-face validation.
Perform basic site surveys and maintain project schedules.
Prep fiber cables for splicing per industry standards in various splice housings and cable types.
Conduct splicing for various fiber cable types and perform fiber characterization tests using industry-standard equipment.
Troubleshoot fiber network issues using OTDR, VFL, and other instruments.
Clean fiber end-faces using multiple methods.
Provide field analysis on fiber network test data.
Prepare testing packages, including redlining project documentation, providing test reports, managing project field documentation, and interfacing with vendors for issue remediation.
Validate vendor infrastructure deliverables through site surveys.
Required Experience:

1-3 years of experience in the field
Proficient in OTDR and troubleshooting
Basic fiber experience
Knowledge of project management and organizational skills
Proficiency in fusion splicing with industry-standard equipment
Strong experience analyzing OTDR traces, OIL data, and CD/PMD data
Understanding of ISP and OSP fiber networks and various fiber types
Strong computer skills for project information delivery and test result handling
Communication Skills:

High-level analytical skills
Effective written and oral presentation skills
Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
Strong multitasking abilities and adherence to project deadlines
Experience interfacing with vendors and developing issue remediation protocols
General Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of experience in a telecom network infrastructure environment
Proficiency with generic office software
Familiarity with EXFO Toolbox or similar software applications
Experience understanding vendor contractual deliverables
Project management or project support experience is a plus
Additional language skills are a plus

High School Diploma
