Pay Rate - $31.50/hr 1st Shift: 6am-2:30pm, must be flexible to work other shift Job Description As a Tool and Die Maker, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities: Direct machining support for engineering/production Group Support of Operations including modification and or creation of tooling, machine components, and / or fixtures. This may include CAM programming for multi axis CNC machines and EDM machines. Maintain quality standards and schedules Understand and follow instructions and standard procedures Interface with Engineering, Department Supervisors and Quality Control inspectors Coworkers, and Senior Management Adhere to WI?s, QSR, ISO, SOPs, work, and safety rules. Machining custom components as needed. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock. Develops CAM programs for complex parts. Develops CAM programs to run consumable spare parts and production components in a lights out environment to continually improve equipment utilization in the shop Programs as required, Mills, Lathes, EDMs and Grinders by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads. Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments Manager is requiring emphasis on grinding experience with support of Automatrix and Palodent Must have experience with older mechanical equipment like metal stamping and forming. Required Education High School Diploma/GED OR equivalent work experience Certificate for 4yr. Tool and Die apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience. Completion of apprenticeship program or equivalent Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 5 years? experience (10+ years preferred) operating CNC milling equipment independently in a fast-paced production environment. Experience with Tooling and adjusting Speeds and Feeds Experience developing machining strategy and selecting tooling and work holding solutions, as well as programming and setting up CNC milling equipment. Experience with 3d CAM systems, i.e. Esprit, Camtool, Mastercam, Feature Cam. Perform basic arithmetic computations (i.e., add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals) Knowledge of GMP Ability to hold tight tolerances. Strong understanding in blue print reading/ geometric tolerance interpretation Basic understanding of machine guarding Working knowledge of WIs, ISO, SOPs, work rules, and safety guidelines Ability to read, write and speak English Follow all established health and safety policies. Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work overtime if needed. Dependability and ability to adapt to change are essential. Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales. |
