Job Description
The Scheduling Rep oversees patient scheduling for appointments and outpatient testing, procedures, and exams. This position has a solid understanding of insurance eligibility, performs updates and corrections for insurance information, and evaluates the medical necessity of procedures for Medicare patients. This position works closely with insurance verifiers to authorize scheduled patient services and keeps up to date documentation on patient accounts and eligibility. The ability to Compassionately engage in conversation with patients on their responsibilities for Copayment, Prepayment and Outstanding Balances.

Essential Functions
Patient Scheduling
Provides information to patients, physicians, and office personnel regarding appointment scheduling and preparation for outpatient testing procedures.
Schedules appointments and pre-registers patients for outpatient tests, procedures, exam appointments, and ancillary services in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
Monitors and actions working orders and pre-registration queues created for the Scheduling Department.

Insurance Verification
Works closely with Insurance Verifiers to verify and authorize services scheduled at hospital sites.
Checks the medical necessity of procedures for all Medicare patients.

Patient Payments
Requests Point of Service Collection (POS) as appropriate and works with the Registration and Ancillary Reception areas at hospital sites on POS goals.

Quality Assurance
Adheres to Key Performance Indicators (KPIâ??s) in order to minimize errors and maintain high standards of quality. Minimizes errors and maintains high standards of quality by checking or monitoring data and work.

Documentation
Documents pertinent account information clearly and concisely in account records and scheduling notes.

Insurance Eligibility
Reviews and understands insurance eligibility, and advises patients of their eligibility.

Order Interpretation
Interrupts orders as they relate to scheduled tests.

Scheduling and Preregistration Functions
Performs functions of scheduling and preregistration in a timely, efficient and professional manner.

Patient Confidentiality
Possess a strong understanding of HIPPA regulations and maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

Outpatient List Preparation & Distribution
Prepares and sends the scheduled outpatient lists to ancillary departments on a daily basis to ensure smooth departmental operations, if applicable.

Service
Provides excellent service to patients, answers questions, and provides information as needed.
