Pay Rate - $30-40/hr Job Description The Senior Building Engineer manages and supervises the maintenance, repair, and operation of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and other mechanical systems. This role ensures that the facility operates efficiently, meets regulatory standards, and provides a safe and comfortable environment for occupants. The Senior Building Engineer leads a team of technicians, coordinates with vendors, and implements preventative maintenance programs while ensuring compliance with codes and regulations. Key Responsibilities System Oversight: Manage and maintain building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, and BAS, to ensure optimal performance. Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule a team of maintenance technicians and engineers, assigning tasks and ensuring quality work. Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment. Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with building systems coordinating with external contractors when necessary. Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, installations and inspections. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all sites adhere to local, state, and federal regulations including fire safety, OSHA standards and environment guidelines. Site Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards or support. Reporting: Prepare and send reports on facilities performance, maintenance activities, and incidence to the facilities management. Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies (e.g., power outages, floods, or equipment failures) and coordinate rapid resolution to minimize disruptions. Reporting: Provide regular reports to facilities manager or leadership on system performance, maintenance activities, and capital improvement recommendations. Qualifications Experience: 5+ years of experience in building engineering or facilities maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory rule. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.), blueprints, and control systems (e.g., building automation systems). Proficiency in CMMS system i.e. Corrigo and MS Office suite. Industry specific experience: Facilities maintenance, building operations, HVAC, and electrical/plumbing Other Requirements Valid driver?s license and flexibility to respond to after-hour emergencies. Physical requirements: ability to climb a ladder and lift up to 50 pounds. Event set up and other duties as assigned. |
