We are seeking to hire OSP Inspectors for our client in Manassas, VA!

Position Overview
The OSP Inspector applies comprehensive knowledge of Outside Plant (OSP) construction, inspection, and safety standards to ensure the quality and integrity of fiber network infrastructure. This position serves as the field representative for quality assurance, permitting compliance, and project documentation. The OSP Inspector also assists with field supervision, mentoring of technicians, and coordination with engineering, permitting, and construction teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budget objectives.

Primary Responsibilities
Field Inspection & Quality Control
Review and evaluate fiber construction projects, including aerial, underground, and MDU installations.
Perform daily audits and inspections to verify compliance with company, client, and local standards (NESC, NEC, OSHA, DOT).
Inspect excavation, trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, splicing, grounding, and site restoration.
Conduct pre-construction ride-outs to assess constructability, identify potential hazards, and verify route feasibility.
Document field conditions through clear photographic and video records of work performed.
Ensure proper installation of fiber-optic cables, splice cases, splitters, vaults, cabinets, and riser guards.
Verify footage, depth, and easement adherence; confirm as-built accuracy and quality.
Operate test equipment to verify optical levels, signal integrity, and installation performance.
Ensure adherence to Traffic Control Plans and MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) standards.

Coordination & Communication
??? Communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, and local agencies.
??? Provide daily progress updates, field notes, and QC reports using digital tracking tools
or mobile applications.
??? Answer technical questions from contractors regarding design prints and specifications.
??? Coordinate with city, county, and DOT inspectors to ensure project acceptance.
??? Notify management immediately of damages, deviations, or safety incidents.
Documentation & Compliance
??? Maintain accurate as-built documentation throughout project execution.
??? Review design prints and report discrepancies or field modifications.
??? Support permitting, restoration verification, and client close-out package preparation.

??? Prepare work orders to correct non-compliant elements in the plant.
??? Ensure fiber design and splicing matrices are implemented correctly.
??? Verify system compliance with NCTA, FCC, and internal QA standards.
Team Support & Mentorship
??? Assist with training and oversight of OSP/ISP field technicians and drafters.
??? Support cross-functional collaboration between Engineering, Construction, and GIS teams.
??? Identify material and equipment needs and ensure proper usage during construction.
Safety
??? Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company
safety protocols.
??? Ensure PPE use and jobsite safety practices are followed.
??? Perform emergency locates and assist during outage response when required.
Qualifications
Experience
??? 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications OSP construction, maintenance, or
inspection (Fiber, CATV, or Telephone).
??? Knowledge of FOA, NEC, NESC, BISCI, and local construction codes and safety practices.
??? Experience reading and interpreting fiber design plans, system maps, and splice
documentation.
??? Proficient in the use of field tools such as GPS, laser range finder, measuring stick, and
handheld mobile inspection applications.
??? Familiarity with aerial and underground make-ready surveys and route validation.
Skills
??? Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple field assignments.
??? Effective communicator with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
??? Capable of producing clear, accurate, and timely field reports and visual documentation.
??? Working knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS, or digital as-built platforms is a plus.

Education & Certifications
??? High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical or associate degree preferred.
??? OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
??? CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
??? Valid drivers license and ability to pass an MVR check.
??? Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors under variable conditions.
??? Willingness to travel up to 30% and work weekends or second shifts as required.
