Machinist | Devens, MA

Position Overview-

The Senior Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating production machining equipment to manufacture precision components in accordance with established processes, engineering documentation, and quality standards. This role requires the ability to work to close tolerances, perform detailed inspections, and operate with minimal supervision in a team-oriented manufacturing environment. The Senior Machinist actively supports safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Set up and operate production machines to perform machining operations including cutting, grinding, deburring, and rework of components using pre-established materials, tooling, and process plans.

Machine parts to close tolerances in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

Make required machine adjustments and promptly report equipment malfunctions or improper cutting conditions for corrective action.

Align, secure, and fasten workpieces using standard fixtures and approved methods.

Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality.

Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, and other surface irregularities from machined parts.

Inspect components for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments, gauges, and comparators.

Perform visual inspections to detect burrs, surface defects, or damage to machined surfaces.

Perform routine equipment maintenance to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability in accordance with divisional standards.

Accurately complete Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities as required.

Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum two (2) years of related machining experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

Demonstrated ability to machine components to close tolerances.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.

Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.

Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in a team-based environment.

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to interpret reports and utilize job-specific software applications, including employee self-service platforms and specialized Parker software systems.

Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, continuous improvement, and professional development.
